Intro

Run4Adventure’s CHAMONIX GUIDE FOR UTMB WEEK video covers everything you need for race week—where to eat, park, register, and shop. The content is packed with practical advice you can put to use right away. Watch the full video to get every detail.

Key Points

  • Travel & Parking: Fly into Geneva and catch a bus to Chamonix (bus station is at the town’s upper end), or drive and use the spacious Grillon car park (reserve early). The train pulls in at Chamonix station and comes with a complimentary valley-wide train pass for the duration of your stay.

  • Essentials: Stop by the tourist office in the town center (open 9 am–7 pm) for free maps, Wi-Fi, and free train passes. The UTMB start and finish is marked by the iconic church.

  • Registration & Expo: Head to the leisure centre (a 10–15 minute walk from the main area) to register; you’ll receive a time slot. Make sure your waterproof jacket passes the mandatory kit check. The expo hosts a range of race-focused vendors.

  • Shop & Pharmacy: Look for pharmacies marked by green crosses, which stock elastic bandages and other supplies. Major sports retailers like Snel, Into Sports, and Ravenel carry the full range of gear—pack required items in your carry-on.

  • Food & Coffee: For affordable options, try Poco Loco (burgers, around €23 per meal), Cool Cats (hot-dogs, always crowded), or Pâtné for fresh breads and pastries—best visited early. Moody Coffee Roasters serves top-notch coffee.

  • Laundry & Hydration: Laundrettes scattered around town offer stunning Mont Blanc views. Public water fountains provide cold mountain water refills; these come back online October 18.

  • Toilets: The cleanest and nicest facilities are at the cable-car station—think five-star hotel standard.

  • Shake-out Run: Monday morning at 9 am, gather at the start/finish arch for an easy 3–4 mile run on flat ground (no climbing) before the TDS midnight launch.
